End of an era: The Jaguar F-TYPE ZP Edition bids farewell in stunning fashion
When Jaguar’s F-TYPE ZP first came along, it served as the true successor to the great race-winning “Project ZP” E-types of the ’60s. A winner of the World Car Design of the Year, the vehicle has since become an icon in its class, a sportscar that set the benchmark for a modern, driver-focused vehicle with that V8 soundtrack. Its exhaust note was so seminal that it would be archived in the British Library.
Now, the brand is bidding adieu to the famed model with one last hurrah. The F-TYPE ZP Edition will be the final internal combustion-engined (ICE) sportscar in its portfolio. There will only be 150 ICE F-TYPE ZP Editions available. In typical Jaguar fashion, these 575PS-supercharged petrol V8 F-TYPEs feature specially curated details made with experts at recently launched SV Bespoke.
The brand pulled out all the stops. Basing off the original “Project ZP” E-types, the two F-TYPE ZP Edition colourways will come in Oulton Blue Gloss paint with Mars Red and Ebony duotone leather interior and Crystal Grey Gloss paint with Navy Blue and Ebony duotone leather interior. Neither exterior paint colour has ever been seen on the F-TYPE before. Both will also be featuring immaculate Porcelain White Gloss hand-painted racing-style roundels on the doors and Porcelain White Gloss grille surrounds.
Meanwhile, interiors are adorned with horizontal seat fluting, plus Gloss Black exterior accents and Gloss Black brake callipers. These were designed to elevate the branding details on the fenders, Gloss Black Diamond Turned 20-inch forged alloy wheels, tread plates and dashboard. Making it all the more worthy of a swan song is the “One of 150” SV Bespoke commissioning plaque.
In terms of performance, the F-TYPE ZP Edition gets the standard of both Coupé and Convertible body styles. Hence, the 575PS, 700Nm of torque and top speeds of 186mph taking only 3.5 seconds to go from 0 to 60mph. An all-wheel drive system with Intelligent Driveline Dynamics (IDD) technology aids its performance on all sorts of surfaces and weather conditions.
Jaguar aims to become an all-electric luxury carmaker by the year 2025. Today, the Jaguar range consists of electric hybrid and full-electric models, including the I-PACE all-electric performance SUV, F-PACE performance SUV, E-PACE compact performance SUV, XE and XF saloons, and F-TYPE sports car, to name a few. Could it possibly release an ell-electric F-TYPE ZP soon? That should be revealed soon enough.
