Rethinking volume and form: Tankoa Yachts and Nauta Design unveil the Milano
Tankoa Yachts and Nauta Design have shared a rich history of friendship that spans three decades now. The two titans of the yachting world are synonymous with innovation, producing some extraordinary creative partnerships along the way. And the introduction of its newest project, 70mt Milano, is no different.
“The stretched horizontal lines establish a seamless connection with the sea’s surface and the horizon, providing an intimate connection with the natural environment,” explained Nauta Co-founder Mario Pedol, speaking of the ethos for the collaboration. “It embodies a reinvention of clean forms and harmonious volumes, resulting in a visual effect of lightness, purity, and serenity.”
Measuring 70 metres wide with a beam of 11.80 metres and a draft of 3.50 metres, Milano benefits from a unique layout that comes with a collection of indulgent features.
Found in the project, for instance, is an extraordinary beach club that includes a lounge with a convertible gym, a relaxation area featuring a sauna and massage room, as well as a swimming pool and expansive sun lounging area. The sundeck comes with another al fresco lounge area with a bar, some sunbeds and two L-shaped sofas with enviable panoramic views.
On the main deck, guests get to enjoy an open-air lounge that connects the dining, saloon and beach spaces. The two generous VIP staterooms, on the other hand, are equipped with fold-out terraces, a galley and a forward garage capable of accommodating two tenders.
The bridge deck is just as remarkable. Here lies the captain’s cabin and a cinema room for guests’ entertainment, perfect for big crowds. Meanwhile, adjacent to the four guest suites on the lower deck is a spacious garage for water toys and gear, laundry facilities, crew gym and even 12 crew cabins.
Milano even boasts sustainable technologies. For example, it embraces a diesel-electric propulsion system that includes four variable speed generators. These provide ample electrical energy to two e-motors, each getting up to 1650kW. This, combined with the fuel cells that generate up to 200kW of power, strike a proper balance between performance, elegance and responsible practices.
“This project means a further step in the growth and consolidation phase that makes Tankoa one of the top players in the construction of luxury megayachts,” added Tankoa Yachts CEO Vincenzo Poerio. “Fusing cutting-edge technology with meticulous attention to details, the 70mt Milano embodies our vision for excellence.”
