The Pershing GTX80 offers a glimpse of the exciting future of the sports yacht
Fresh off the success of the Pershing’s flagship GTX116, the series announces the new GTX80. Created in collaboration with the Ferretti Group Product Strategy Committee led by Piero Ferrari and Vallicelli Design, the next-generation sports boat hopes to bring together the best of Pershing’s signature look, seamless internal-external integration and top-shelf technologies.
Some of its more drastic changes can be seen in the profile of the hull and bulwarks in the bow section. The near vertical bow and continuous, slightly convex sheer-line of the hull, nevertheless, maintain Pershing’s stylistic cues. Its elegant colour (Pershing grey) contrasts perfectly with the superstructure’s darker shades and polished carbon on the hard top.
One of the major enhancements of the GTX80 is its more pronounced interior and exterior spaces. Measuring about 24 metres with a beam of 5.8 metres, the boat can comfortably seat eight guests in the dining and living areas.
It features a dining area with a table and free-standing chairs that seats eight guests, as well as a living area with sofas. Opposite these is a three-side galley that extends to an open bar. Windows surround the salon, including the lateral walkways, ensuring seamless visual flow with the surrounding waters.
The GTX80 also follows in the footsteps of its predecessor with its 23-sqm sundeck. This sleek, dynamic arch-shaped deckhouse, together with the carbon-fibre hard top, makes the superstructure lighter. This not only allows for more area room but also guarantees maximum performance while maintaining a uniform finish. Additional bench seating is made possible with the generous full beam sun pad in the stern on its deck, connecting directly to the dining table area.
On the main deck, the lateral terrace provides the boat with even more flexibility. It can be left in the default position, used to launch the tenders or raised using the dual linear lift function produced by F.lli Canalicchio to create more space.
On the lower deck, meanwhile, are four cabins that come with ensuites. Seen here is exquisite detailing work, defined by natural-coloured wood walls, as well as a sky-blue leather panelling. Even the bathrooms are finished with metallic lacquered panels. Strips of LED lighting are echoed in the ceiling panels, complementing the aesthetic language of the main deck.
Beyond its architecture, of course, lies Pershing’s revamped engineering. Equipped with three 1,000 mhp Volvo Penta D13 IPS1350 engines, the GTX80 reaches a decent cruising speed of 28 kn and a top speed of 34 kn. Complementing these, too, are innovative technological systems such as the Volvo IPS electro-hydraulic system, as well as the upgraded Volvo joystick functions with joystick driving and assistive docking. Suffice it to say, it’s a dazzling sports boat that makes the best of both its striking new visual appeal and high-performance capabilities.
