The Pagani Huayra R virtual simulator is a faithful reimagining of a racing marvel
As far as legends go, the Pagani Huayra R is one of most disruptive hypercars in the world (so much so that it’s even banned in some countries). Its performance levels, powered by an aspirated racing engine, are among the most powerful in its class. This is a supercar made for the best circuits around, one that needs a professional pilot to maneuver.
Enter Pagani Automobili’s new Huayra R simulator. Developed in collaboration with Racing Unleashed, the advanced virtual driving system is specifically designed to study the vehicle in a safe, controlled environment.
“We aimed to create a professional, dynamic driving simulator with an extraordinary level of immersion and realism, intending to contribute to the constant refinement of our customers’ driving styles,” says Franco Morsino, Vehicle Dynamics Lead at Pagani Automobili.
The carbon fiber structure’s paintwork and seat stands out at first, enjoying a faithful reimagining of Pagani Huayra R. Complementing this is the advanced active safety belt system simulating longitudinal and lateral acceleration feedback, as well as the ABS emulator that takes care of modulate braking at the grip limit.
Pagani’s engineering and design team meticulously recreated the handling, dynamics and aerodynamic effects of the vehicle, all of which are rendered in pitch, roll and yaw motion cues. The adoption of the Assetto Corsa Pro interface, which is the leading simulation platform in the industry, gives riders an even more realistic experience through the extensive use of cutting-edge technologies like laser-scanned circuits.
Of note, too, is the acoustic engagement through the VR headphones. Designers integrated kickers in the seat and the sophisticated 5.1 audio system enhance engagement with the distinctive sound of the Pagani V12-R and road-transmitted vibrations. Meanwhile, the hardware setup boasts an integrated high-performance gaming computer in the base, a curved screen, and a dedicated wooden Flight Case.
“Our ambition was to transform it into a genuine design object, a product with artistic value destined to occupy a prominent place within the homes of Huayra R owners,” Morsino explains.
