Benetti reveals new designer signatures in the B.Yond 55M and ‘Project Life’ 85M
On the occasion of its 150th anniversary, Benetti reflects on the values that turned its voyagers into marvels on the seas. With it comes a renewed focus on innovative design concepts that should reshape its prised B.Yond range.
“Offering cutting-edge yachts to the market is our mission, says Giovanna Vitelli, Chair of Azimut|Benetti Group. “Hence, the need to further expand the brand’s collaborations with the best designers in the world and announce new revolutions in the world of yachting.”
Bearing the Igor Lobanov signature, the new 55-metre yacht is one of the latest additions to Benetti’s growing B.Yond portfolio. It marks the studio’s first collaboration with the brand. Lobanov’s designs, best known for their sculptural and modern forms, are explorations of proportion, making the yacht designer an ideal partner for the new Voyager concept.
Maximising volume, the yacht will have five carefully curated decks that ensure the utmost intimacy and fluidity. The structure swaps the classic ideal of symmetry for more robust and rounded shapes, most evident in the positioning of the stairs and pocket spaces. In terms of the side profile of the 55-metre vessel, it was reorganised as an “optical illusion”, allowing for a suggestive clean visual effect.
Meanwhile, for Project Life, a 85-metre behemoth set to enrich Benetti’s megayacht fleet, the yacht maker called upon the services of world-famous studio Espen Øino on the exteriors and Francois Zuretti on the interiors.
Espen Øino infuses the B.Yond range by authoring a reinterpretation of the decks. One of the main thrusts of the partnership is giving the vessel social entertainment spaces with large convivial areas and reconfigurable meeting places on every deck. The large revolving lounge, for instance, completely shifts its focal point depending on the time of the day.
Zuretti has produced varied interiors for Benetti in the past, including the Ambrosia, Saga and the Benetti Classic, Tradition and Vision series, to name a few. For Project Life, he opts to balance the colors and the surrounding environment by allowing more natural light. The materials and ceilings, in particular, are odes to spatial and stylistic continuity. Curved lines are also favored in the Main Reception, in the Main Saloon and in the Upper Lounge to frame a more evocative atmosphere.
Project Life is equipped with modern technologies such as a highly efficient and optimized hull, diesel-electric propulsion with fossil and non fossil fuel technology and POD transmission. Integrated hybrid solar panels are put in place to collect both solar and thermal energy to power the tenders, toys and appliances.
