Aston Martin’s new-generation Vantage is a triumph of power and technology
Aston Martin’s new Vantage is a successor that more than lives up to its outstanding name. The sports car, which was said to be “engineered for real drivers,” is defined by a revamped contemporary design, chassis technology, razor-sharp handling, as well as a commendable interior that definitively brings the Vantage into the future.
“Any car bearing the Vantage name has much to live-up to, which is why this newest model makes an unwavering commitment to high-performance in its purest and most explicit form,” said Aston CEO Amedeo Felisa.
At first glance, the latest Vantage’s bolder physique shines through. Standing 30-mm wider with a more muscular stance, the supercar’s character is accentuated by that beautifully redesigned front-end featuring a 38% larger recontoured veined grille aperture. Hence, a 29% increase in mass airflow for more cooling. The all-new Matrix LED headlamp design with integrated DRLs and integrated splitter highlights its shape even more.
The Vantage also benefits from vast increases to its power and torque, due, in large part, to the precise 50:50 weight distribution. Its chassis and powertrain are tuned to the highest standards. The new Vantage can get to100km/h in only 3.5 seconds, achieving top speeds of 325km/h. Its revised 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 can deliver a staggering 489kW at 6000rpm, which is a few kW away from the rare Vantage V12.
Drivers will notice an intensified handling character, as well. Key technical elements like the Active Vehicle Dynamics, Bilstein DTX adaptive dampers, Electronic Rear Differential (E-diff) and AML specific 21-inch Michelin Pilot S 5 tyres enhance the driving pleasure. Thanks to the advanced vehicle dynamics control system, together with the 6-axis accelerometer, powertrain, braking system and E-Diff sensors, the Vantage’s overall management is optimised for all sorts of handling behaviour in all kinds of weathers conditions.
Long-time Vantage enthusiasts should also be delighted by the refreshed interior. Clean lines offer a striking yet elegant environment in the Vantage cockpit. From slender air vents to supple hand-stitched Bridge of Weir hides, the interior marries functional beauty and tactile quality. Complementing this is a new state-of-the-art 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment screen and a surround sound system developed by Bowers & Wilkins.
Touchscreen commands balance out the tactility of physical switches, with buttons retained for the key mechanical operations of gear selection, drive selection, heating and ventilation. Override switches for Chassis, ESP and Exhaust, Lane Assist and Park Distance Control, among others, ensure a smoother driving experience inside and outside the legendary vehicle.
“The art of creating a truly great sports car in 2024 is applying cutting-edge technology in a way that enhances and intensifies the driving experience yet does nothing to remove the driver from the process of driving,” adds Roberto Fedeli, Aston Martin Chief Technical Officer. “It is the perfect contemporary interpretation of a time-honoured legend”.
