Aston Martin introduces a trio of racing phenoms ahead of the F1 season
The Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team had arguably its best season ever just a year ago. With nine podium finishes and 280 Championship points, the British luxury carmaker reminded the public of its high-performance motorsport technology. This upcoming season, it hopes to recreate the same success. Recently, it unveiled a trio of its most thrilling models on the same day: the new Vantage sports car, Vantage GT3 racer, and the AMR24 Formula One challenger.
“These three brothers in speed embroider our DNA with new dynamism,” Aston Martin Chairman Lawrence Stroll said in a statement. “The synergy with high-performance motorsport technologies is something we can maximise even further through our next generation of sportscars and endurance motorsport strategy.”
Certainly, it was only fitting that the Vantage was revealed at Silverstone. The first Vantage and the first World Championship Formula One race, after all, debuted in the same year back in 1950. A quintessential Aston Martin racer, the latest Vantage is pegged as the most ‘driver-focused’ in the nameplate’s 74-year history.
The Vantage GT3, on the other hand, is expected to make an appearance during one of the most prestigious endurance events in the world, the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2024. This new production model is indicative of the evolution of the line into a robust GT racer. It’s expected to add to the remarkable 52-win record of the British carmaker. Aston Martin, of course, won 11 world titles in a span of nine years, thanks to its highly successful Vantage GTE.
Meanwhile, the new Challenger enjoys its most well-rounded version yet. Reconfigured to suit new F1 regulations on floor and sidepod design, Aston Martin decided to do a complete overhaul of such, improving airflow management around the floor and the rear wing. Its operating window now allows a more versatility in specific circuit characteristics. The chassis design, together with the nose, front wing, front suspension, and rear suspension, have all been modified, as well.
Stroll, who brought Aston Martin back to F1 in 2021, added: “Today’s celebration of high-performance also highlights the burgeoning relationship between our road and race programmes, with Aston Martin Lagonda now benefitting from the exceptional pool of engineering talent, experience and knowledge forged in Formula One and harvested through Aston Martin Performance Technologies.”
The Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team will begin its 2024 FIA Formula One World Championship season at the Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix on March 2, 2024.
