The Macallan A Night on Earth series: A tribute to the Spanish region of Jerez

Following the iconic release of the Time : Space Collection as part of The Macallan’s 200th anniversary celebration, the distillery unveils the third release of the A Night on Earth Series to mark the conclusion of the bicentennial festivities.

The collection is a limited-edition series of exceptional whiskies inspired by the changing seasons of the year. In its third release, The Macallan draws inspiration from the beautiful Spanish region of Jerez de la Frontera, where its sherry-seasoned casks have originated.

A Night on Earth in Jerez de la Frontera is a single malt Scotch whisky, perfectly matured in a blend of European and American sherry-seasoned oak casks and bottled at 43% ABV.

The combination of the two different casks allows the whisky to deliver layers of richness and sweetness on the palate, featuring notes of sweet grapes that resemble the Spanish tradition of eating twelve grapes before the end of the year, as well as flavours reminiscent to the traditional Jerez pastry, Pestiños. Honey glazed almonds, vanilla, balanced spices and hints of fresh rosemary also coat the palate, further enriching the spirit’s profile.

For the whisky’s bottle and packaging, The Macallan collaborated with artist María Melero, a native of Jerez, who drew on memories of the festive traditions in her hometown to create the distinctive designs that adorn the release.

The outer part of the packaging features a crimson sky and a vivid sunset over sherry wine vineyards. On the inside, it showcases a display of ‘azulejos’ – traditional Jerez wall tiles – adorned with elements that represent both the celebrations and key moments for the distillery, from casks and stills to oranges and vine leaves

A Night on Earth in Jerez de la Frontera is available in selected liquor stores across Australia from November 2024 for a recommended retail price of $235. Visit The Macallan for more information.
