The Sanlorenzo SX88 showcases the ingenuity of a designer-led crossover yacht
When Sanlorenzo chose architect and interior designer Piero Lissoni to design this interesting crossover, the Italian shipbuilder hoped he’d create something commandingly beautiful. The SX88’s true character lies somewhere between an explorer yacht and a flybridge. In essence, it was always meant to break the form.
The crossover stands as a beacon of innovation and forward-thinking craftsmanship. There’s a harmony here between form and function, enjoying rugged angular styling cues and chic design. Lissoni would reinterpret all elements of the main deck, stripping it down to an open space, bordered by near floor-to-ceiling windows, with only slim mullions interrupting the view.
Measuring about 87-feet with wide open lounge areas and soaring glass walls, this yacht’s transom serves guests with better connectivity to the utility area, swim platform and deck. Four ensuite guest staterooms, as well as the owner’s stateroom offer ample space, as well.
With that also comes a reconfiguration of the master cabin, navigation station and galley. The loft-like interior space of the SX88, meanwhile, is adorned with premium materials, designer furniture and exquisite finishes.
Owners are provided full autonomy to maximise the space, especially for those who want something that transcends a traditional salon. Tying all of these elements together is that cantilevered structure of a staircase right at the heart of it.
Beyond its aesthetic appeal lies innovative engineering that sets it apart from its peers. Powered by efficient Volvo Penta IPS engines, the SX88 delivers exceptional performance. It cruises at a comfortable 20 knots with a top speed around 23 knots. Adding to that is an emphasis on fuel efficiency and maneuverability. Noise and vibration reduction technologies guarantee a serene onboard experience even through rough seas.
