Glenfiddich presents an exclusive 31-year-old whisky finished in a 9-year-old Bordeaux cask
Glenfiddich is known for its exceptional Grand Series collection that celebrates the combination between single malt and cultures from around the world. This includes the 29-year-old Grand Yozakura, the first single malt Scotch whisky finished in rare ex-Awamori casks, as well as the rare Palo Cortado Sherry cask-finished Gran Cortes.
To add to its impressive portfolio and pushing the boundaries of whisky-making even further is the Grand Château, the first spirit from the distillery to be finished for an extended period of nine years in a Bordeaux red wine cask.
The 31-year-old whisky is matured in American oak and its Bordeaux cask finish adds a new and unexpected depth, creating an earthy quality to it, with fruity and floral hints at the same time. It opens up to the nose warm cocooning vanilla that slowly unveils to notes of ripe cassis berries and piquant nutty aromas. The spirit is also indulgent and rich on the palate, with notes of caramelised cherries and apples, intertwining with warm spices and toasted oak.
The Grand Château’s Toile De Jouy display boxes are as unique as its flavour, too. French Street artist André Saraiva created the bold interior of the limited 250-piece “The Artist’s Edition” packaging, applying his signature ‘Mr.A’ character, as well as motifs and style that disrupt the art form. This collaboration also pays homage to the brand’s deep connection and long-standing commitment to the arts.
