A Batur-inspired special: The Ducati Diavel is reimagined as a Bentley coupé

As far as muscle cruisers go, the Ducati Diavel V4 is as gritty and as bold as any of its competitors. It’s a rare machine that combines the best of an agile chassis, a robust engine and advanced motoring technology. Now, imagine the Diavel with the elegance of a certain British luxury carmaker; that’s how the Ducati Diavel for Bentley came to be.

The two brands recently introduced its first-ever collaboration with the limited-edition motorbike. Revealed to the public at Art Basel Miami, the Ducati Diavel for Bentley has all the essential qualities of arguably Bentley’s best hard-top coupé, the Batur.

With a muscular body akin to the vehicle, the Diavel for Bentley owes its distinct sleek design to Centro Stile Ducati and in-house Bentley designers. The bold lines of the Diavel V4 are highlighted by the shapes of the world-famous coupé. Complementing them are the Dark Titanium Satin accents that frame the machined surfaces.

Of note, too, is the side air intakes that reflect the two-tone front grille, one of the Batur’s most important features. Likewise, the triangular rear extractors, fairing and the upper view of the tank, and ribs on the front bonnet take from many of the Batur’s aggressive styling cues. Each of the bodywork components are made with carbon fibre, adding to the texture of the motorbike. It’s most evident in the fenders, radiator shrouds, headlamp cover, exhaust and radiator covers, and tail piece.

The motorbike’s familiar Scarab Green colour comes out in a sophisticated and refined metallic shade reminiscent of Bentley’s ultra-luxury Mulliner. Traces of the Batur’s dynamic design are also found in the forged wheels and components like the air intakes, front mudguard, fairing, and fuel tank.

Rendered in black Alcantara, the rider’s seat, on the other hand, shows flashes of the Bentley coupé‘s beautiful interior, elevated only by the underlying red fabric and the legendary logo. Even the dual outlet exhaust was refashioned to offer a certain visual harmony with the body’s refined lines.

More than the rapier-like silhouette, its performance is unmistakably Ducati in character. If the Batur was built around the iconic W12 engine, the Diavel for Bentley revolves around the Ducati flagship V4 Granturismo engine. This produces a hefty 166bhp at 10,750rpm. Light, compact, and rich in torque at every rpm, the superbike carries 1,158 cc and a Twin Pulse combustion order, more than enough for regular cruising.
