Rolls-Royce Phantom Goldfinger: A tribute to the iconic 007 film
In celebration of the 60th anniversary of the iconic 1964 James Bond film Goldfinger, Rolls-Royce unveils the Phantom Extended Goldfinger – an exclusive, one-of-one vehicle that reimagines the 1937 Phantom III Sedanca de Ville featured in the movie.
This exclusive vehicle drew inspiration from the film’s villain Auric Goldfinger, who was known for his likeness to gold and used his Phantom’s body panels to smuggle the precious metal across England.
As a nod to this concept, Rolls-Royce’s Bespoke Collective used 18- and 24-carat gold features in its bespoke interiors, including an illuminated solid 18-carat gold bar, shaped as a Phantom ‘Speedform’ and a 24-carat gold-plated vehicle identification number plaque ending in 007.
The air vents, ‘organ stops’ and glovebox are also adorned with gold finishes, while the glovebox lid is debossed with one of Goldfinger’s famous lines from the movie: “This is gold, Mr. Bond. All my life, I have been in love with its colour, its brilliance, its divine heaviness.”
The true centerpiece of the Goldfinger is the bespoke artwork featured in the Phantom’s gallery, which spans the full width of the front fascia. Hand-drawn and three-dimensional, the design is a precise yet artistic isoline map depicting the contours of the Furka Pass, one of the iconic locations featured in the film.
Another standout feature of the Phantom Goldfinger is the Starlight Headliner, which recreates the constellations visible over Furka Pass on the final day of filming in Switzerland. Composed of 719 hand-placed ‘stars’ that glow with a subtle gold hue, the headliner is further enhanced with eight ‘shooting stars’ scattered across the roof of the car’s interior.
To complement the gold accents within the cabin, the car is finished with Navy leather and Royal Walnut veneer, with rear reclining seats that feature gold stitching, gold-coloured ‘bullets’ to cap the seat piping sections and headrests that incorporate gold ‘RR’ monograms.
The Goldfinger’s exterior recreated the colours of the Phantom III to precisely match its yellow hue, alongside a black finish that wraps around the vehicle’s coachwork to create an uninterrupted, two-tone design. The 21-inch disc wheels are also a reiteration of 1937 model, which are finished in black with silver ‘floating’ hubcaps.
As a finishing touch, the prized British numberplate ‘AU 1’, which graced the Phantom III in the film, has been secured and will remain exclusively with the Phantom Goldfinger. This bespoke vehicle has been secured by Rolls-Royce client and collector based in England.
