Rebellion Chrono Dakar 2024

Rebellion’s Predator Chrono Dakar 2024 is as relentless as the pursuit

With the Dakar Rally arguably being the ultimate endurance race, it found a worthy partner in Rebellion. The most daring drivers and riders, after all, traverse through sand dunes, rock canyons, and everything else in between. With them should come a timepiece just as hardy and ambitious. For this reiteration of the rally, Rebellion introduces the Predator Chrono Dakar 2024, a watch that captures the relentless nature of the pursuit.

“It’s always a question of precision, both for the drivers who calculate their trajectories and for the timekeepers who evaluate them throughout the thousands of kilometres covered,” Dakar Rally Director David Castera says. “Like the most successful champions who rely on technically flawless vehicles, the organisers also count on the absolute reliability of their tools to ensure the fairness of the debates. Rebellion’s expertise in this field will be our ally once again in Saudi Arabia.”

Rebellion has been the Official Timekeeper of the Dakar Rally since 2019. For this year’s Dakar, the watchmaker presents a rally-themed chronograph that drivers, timekeepers, and watchmakers can all appreciate. With the Predator Chrono Dakar 2024, Rebellion came up with a timepiece that reflects the ruggedness and fortitude required in these pursuits. It combines stylistic fusion and Rebellion’s distinctive mechanical depth.

Housed in a sculptural 48 mm-diameter case, the Predator Chrono Dakar 2024’s architecture shines through. The model’s open-worked scenescape is rendered in a warm and sunny honeycomb-mesh design, reminiscent of the sandy desert hues in Saudi Arabia. Traces of red add a nice touch to the counters and small seconds.

Complementing this are Super-LumiNova®-topped golden hands and markers that adorn the wearer with a stylishly bold take on a desert watch. All these ensure a more dynamic scenography likened to a necessary instrument in a Dakar racer’s cockpit. Carbon fibre ties all these properties together, allowing the piece to breathe. It makes for a good balance between lightness and incredible hardness.

All-time data is also driven by a Swiss-made calibre with its self-winding movement that provides a power reserve of 48 hours. Particularly striking is the honeycomb-forged, twirling and whirling oscillating weight, seen through the traditional Dakar logo-decorated sapphire-crystal caseback. These are only elevated by the sophisticated black DLC-dressed dial and the Cordura® textile strap fashioned in the topography of Dakar’s desert panoramas.
