The Mercedes-AMG SL43 is the perfect marriage between styling and cruising

There’s a certain glamour that oozes from the Mercedes-AMG SL43. The sporty character coupled with the classic open-top charm has made it quite the icon in the Marque’s portfolio. The SL43’s latest reiteration looks to honor the roadster’s storied tradition, introducing a refreshed design language and improved technology.

At first look, the car enjoys a more dynamic, somewhat sportier appearance, complete with a long wheelbase, active rear spoiler that blends into the boot lid and noticeably sculpted wheel arches. It even brings with it the distinctive design element of its 300 SL classic, with the AMG-specific radiator grille and its 14 vertical slats.

Meanwhile, inside the stunning supercar is a cascading infotainment system and center stack. These are complemented, of course, by surprisingly stylish air vents and seating that mimics the feel of a real cockpit.

The Marque’s also craftsmanship shines through in the detail in the gear selector and center console. The SL43 has an entirely redesigned interior layout with 2+2 seating, providing increased space and functionality, as well as boasts an exemplified new design compared to previous models.

State-of-the-art technology was deployed to enhance both performance and comfort. Advanced driver-assistance systems provide an extra layer of safety and convenience. Meanwhile, the integration of digital displays, voice-activated controls and smartphone connectivity ensures that the SL not only meets but exceeds the expectations of modern luxury.

Under the hood, the SL43 is powered by a potent AMG 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine capable of delivering on power. Boasting 375 hp, it’s more than capable of going from 0 to 60 kmph in just a hair under five seconds. It is, nevertheless, at its best as a cruising companion through scenic highways and winding roads.

The handling, on the other hand, is as smooth as one would expect from a Mercedes roadster. Adaptive suspension systems and precision-engineered handling dynamics take care of those sharper curves and corners with precision. Drivers get the best of blistering straight-line speed and confidence-inspiring agility, making the SL43 a true athlete among convertibles.
