Loro Piana’s savoir-faire shines through in its 2024 Lunar New Year capsule collection
If there was ever an ultimate symbol of stealth wealth, it’s Loro Piana. Whether its producing chic clothing for winter or fabric for otherworldly interiors, its assemblage of the rarest raw materials in the world is second to none. Sometimes, it makes use of lotus flower fiber. Other times, it’s Vicuña from Argentina or Merino wool from Australia and New Zealand. Aways, it’s an exercise in tireless refinement.
The brand also continues to be a beacon of innovation. Recently, Loro Piana has produced some interesting lines, such as the Cocooning Collection, a tour de force of cashmere leisurewear, and its first-ever entertaining collection, done in collaboration with sculptor Lucas Castex. Now, Loro Piana’s distinctive flair blends with the East, as it honors ancient Chinese tradition with the release of the 2024 Lunar New Year Capsule Collection.
The Maison’s most exclusive yarns make up the series, from Baby Cashmere, Cashmere double, and eco cashmere moulinè to Sea Island cotton. This Capsule Collection, made to accommodate all members of the family, enjoys a refined range of pastel colour for its garments and accessories. Each reflects that familiar Loro Piana craftsmanship with their incredibly light and airy feel. Pieces are rendered in a neutral palette, including ones in lilac, pink, and pale blue.
Among some of the standouts in this collection are the Elbert Jacket, the Halona cape, and the Extra Pocket bag, to name a few. Adding to the flagship pieces are the soft stuffed-toy dragons for kids, hooded sweatshirts, and, of course, a Lunar celebration of the iconic Spagna Jacket.
Seen here is the Italian hyper-luxury brand’s homage to the Chinese New Year, incorporating the traditional Lunar Paisley print in items like the Lunar Stole. A closer look at the details will yield flashes of oriental culture and embroidered or stylised dragon motifs.
Especially alluring is the Summer Walk shoes in suede, which come in cool muted tones. Much like the rest of the collection, the pairs are embellished with what Loro Piana calls “a dragon charm.” All of these are thoughtfully made to embody the symbol of power, good luck, and wisdom in the Chinese tradition.
