Franck Muller’s Round Triple Mystery combines haute horlogerie and high jewellery in a mesmerising movement

First unveiled at the 2025 edition of Watches and Wonders in Geneva, the Franck Muller Round Triple Mystery marks a considered evolution of one of the maison’s most recognisable models. It is a watch that sits confidently at the intersection of high jewellery and haute horlogerie, where gem-setting and mechanical ingenuity are treated with equal importance.

That idea later developed into the Double Mystery, introduced two years on, which separated the indication of hours and minutes across two independent rotating discs.

With the Round Triple Mystery, Franck Muller advances the concept once again by introducing a third rotating disc for the seconds. This addition does more than increase complexity. It brings greater depth and rhythm to the dial, while demanding an even higher degree of mechanical control beneath the surface.

At first glance, the dial appears to float in continuous motion, entirely free from traditional hands. Each of the three discs is meticulously handcrafted, engineered to rotate with exceptional smoothness and precision. The skeletonised seconds disc is crafted from aluminium, chosen for its lightness, allowing rapid movement without placing additional weight on the mechanism. This technical choice also enhances transparency, reinforcing the illusion of levitation across the dial.

At the centre, a diamond set within the skeleton pastille anchors the composition. Its geometric spirograph-inspired form introduces a decorative counterpoint to the mechanical choreography, drawing the eye inward while maintaining balance across the display.

The mechanism is encased in a choice of 18K rose gold or white gold, with each dial set with 237 brilliant-cut diamonds. Three triangle-cut gemstone indexes—offered in diamonds, emeralds, rubies or blue sapphires—serve as arrow markers for the hours, minutes and seconds. Together, they complete a watch that balances gem-setting with watchmaking, marrying jewellery craft and mechanical construction into clear alignment and bears the maison’s ethos of offering something unique to its connoisseurs.

As Franck Muller CEO Nicholas Rudaz described to an exclusive interview with Boulevard: “Well, we always like to put that extra je ne sais quoi inside each watch, so people who wear a Franck Muller are those who want to be a little bit different—who want to stand out.”
