Ferrari 849 Testarossa marks a new era as the marque’s most powerful road car yet

Ferrari has unveiled its newest flagship, the 849 Testarossa, a plug-in hybrid berlinetta—the Italian term for a two-door, low-profile sports coupé—that blends tradition with cutting-edge technology. Replacing the SF90 Stradale, this new model revives the famous Testarossa name, one of Ferrari’s most iconic cars from the 1980s.

Built in Maranello, the small Italian town where every Ferrari is crafted, the 849 Testarossa connects the brand’s racing roots with its electric future.

The 849 Testarossa is powered by a twin-turbo V8 engine that delivers 830 hp, paired with three electric motors for a combined total of 1,050 hp. That makes it the most powerful Ferrari ever made for the road yet.

Despite its hybrid setup, the car remains light and agile thanks to its carbon fibre and titanium parts—materials often used in Formula 1 racing.

The berlinetta’s engine has been upgraded with a new turbocharger and lighter titanium components, giving it 50 more horsepower than the SF90 Stradale. The hybrid system uses technology borrowed from Ferrari’s Formula 1 team, combining instant electric acceleration with the raw sound and feel of a traditional V8 engine. It sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.3 seconds and can reach a top speed of over 330 km/h.

The design of the 849 Testarossa takes inspiration from the classic 1980s model but gives it a sharper, more futuristic look. Its sculpted body lines help the car cut through the air efficiently while creating strong downforce—the aerodynamic force that keeps the car stable at high speeds.

Inside, the cabin feels like the cockpit of a race car but with modern luxury. A minimalist dashboard, floating central console and digital displays create a sleek, high-tech atmosphere. The gear selector is designed to look like Ferrari’s classic open-gate shifter—a nod to its heritage.

Ferrari has also added new driving systems, such as ABS Evo and the FIVE estimator system, which improve braking and handling for more precise control.

For drivers who want a more track-focused experience, the Assetto Fiorano package reduces the car’s weight by 30 kg and adds special aerodynamics and race-tuned suspension.
