Cartier celebrates 100 years of the beloved Trinity through this immersive journey
From Maria Félix’s crocodile necklace to the Panthère de Cartier, Cartier’s legacy is symbolic of an old-world grandeur that had once been reserved for royals and aristocrats. Each piece it crafts has become a symbol of individuality and beauty. Such is the case for one of its most iconic creations, the Trinity, which also happens to be celebrating its centennial year.
To honor the occasion, Cartier has decided to release a special edition of the famed piece. Made of white, yellow and rose gold, the ring not only symbolises the magic of the number three (which is a reference to the Maison’s three historic boutiques), but it also represents the three Cartier brothers Louis, Pierre and Jacques. Its interlocking design, on the other hand, embodies multitudinous forms of love.
Coinciding with the release is an exhibition on Cartier and the Trinity’s illustrious heritage in Singapore. In the Arts House, each interconnected room explores the heritage of the Trinity, which goes all the way back to its inception in 1924. Back then, the ring broke the traditions of jewellery making by incorporating an interlocking design made out of three kinds of coloured gold. Eventually, it became the ultimate symbol for Cartier distinct style.
The showcase also introduces the public to the Trinity Centenary Collection inside what is called the ‘Trinity Box.’ With rare pieces inspired by the Trinity ring’s design, from the XL version of the Trinity bracelet to newer versions on the same bold, maximal scale, each piece embodies the Maison’s rich history as well as the design’s timeless modernity.
Meanwhile, the Imagine Infinite Circles project gathers more than 100 works by creative figures all over the world from all disciplines and backgrounds. These magnificent works of art weaves a circular story which represents the Trinity. The Maison even tapped the French creative figure, Jérôme Sans, to curate artworks. Sans would complete the Imagine Infinite Circles collection, with 30 of the pieces shown at the immersive landmark event.
The show will be held until July 23, 2024 at the Arts House. Learn more about the centenary celebration of Trinity by visiting Cartier for more information.
