Bulthaup’s ‘There Is No Kitchen’ concept arrives in Asia

A pillar of modern kitchen design, Bulthaup’s modules, particularly the b1, b2 and b3 concepts, have been heralded around the world for their variety of configurations and angular simplicity. The brand’s architectural character, which is heavily influenced by the Bauhaus movement, expresses a certain harmony between function, production and quiet artistry.

Bulthaup’s latest design concept, “There Is No Kitchen,” recently made its Asian debut in Singapore. First launched in Milan during the Salone del Mobile 2024, this pop-up features Bulthaup’s new built-in and modular kitchen layout, showcasing how owners can better work with everyday tools and kitchen accessories.

“We’re thrilled to be the first in Asia to present this extraordinary showcase, offering our guests an exclusive sneak preview,” says Madison and Associates Singapore Marketing Director Karen Gonzago. “This marks the beginning of an exciting journey for Bulthaup, with many more plans in store over the coming months.”

The idea behind the “There Is No Kitchen” concept is rooted in the brand’s human-centric vision, putting functionality, accessibility and ergonomic creativity above all else. Bulthaup’s new integrated systems are meant to transform spaces based on the “94 line,” a horizontal plane oriented towards users.

The appearance of the room for the “There Is No Kitchen” pop-up is noticeably more dynamic, thanks to the abundance of polygonal shapes. Tying the elements of the space together is a vintage preparation island in solid oak with a stainless-steel base. It features a built-in disposable unit and a hanging rig with pull-out grids for storing kitchen tools, as well.

This new system features sustainable materials, too. Here, the brand introduces five new timbers: pine, oak, walnut, cherry, and ash, alongside silk lacquer. It is further elevated by an integrated three-dimensional wall system that provides added storage.

Another key component of the showcase is the kitchen workbench. This comes with an integrated hob with induction or gas, a sink, a barista drainer, a brewing head and a pull-out wooden pass in Hinoki wood, complemented by a height-adjustable rig positioned in front of the wall.

Appliances and accessories, on the other hand, should be a seamless fit into the horizontal system because the layout, as with any Bulthaup design, is all about customisability. This means it always takes into account homeowners’ personal touches.

“This sense of ‘feeling at home’ and ‘familiarity’ is crucial in our interactions,” adds Bulthaup Owner and Managing Director, Marc Eckert. “People experience familiarity when they are surrounded by objects that bring them comfort—things they use regularly, often handle, or that hold personal significance. When these items are thoughtfully placed and visible, they contribute to creating the perfect ambiance.”
