Breguet Marine Tourbillon Equation Marchante: A grand complication in platinum armour
The Marine Equation Marchante 5887 is arguably one of Breguet’s highly technical timepiece, featuring a 43.9-mm diameter case and an ultramarine face that first came out in 2017. Three years later, the tourbillon collection was reimagined in warm reflections of pink gold, complemented with a beautiful chocolate-coloured dial.
Today, Breguet completes the series with the Marine Tourbillon Equation Marchante 5887, featuring a fluted 950 platinum case and houses three complications that are mesmerising as they are exceptional.
The timepiece features a beautiful black dial, enhanced with a wave guilloche pattern that evokes the image of an ocean under the silver Moon. It also showcases the running equation of time, an exceptional complication that displays the difference between mean and true solar time. This is indicated using a gold-plated, diamond polished hand with a fluted ring.
Another complication that the Equation Marchante 5887 houses is the perpetual calendar, which acts like a mechanical diary. This is indicated using an anchor-shaped retrograde hand that follows an arc-shaped scale of 1 to 31, detailed in black and white for easy legibility. It also features two open windows at 10:30 and 1:30 that displays the day, month and leap year.
The timepiece is completed by a patented 60-second Breguet tourbillon, housed in a titanium cage with a balance spring crafted from silicon for enhanced precision. It is powered by the Calibre 581DPE automatic winding movement, with a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and an 80-hour power reserve. The case back is adorned with a hand-engraved silhouette of the Royal Louis, a Royal Navy warship commissioned in 1752, adding a touch of historical significance. This combination of innovative technology and timeless craftsmanship makes the watch a true work of art.
The Equation Marchante 5887 comes with a black textured rubber strap and triple-blade 950 platinum folding clasp. It also comes in three other variations, including a 950 platinum case with a blue dial, an 18K rose gold case with a brown dial, as well as an 18K rose gold close case with a silver dial.
