The BMW M850i Convertible is in a league of its own
In BMW’s exceptional portfolio, the 8 series convertible emerges as one of its more indulgent two-door models. This is most evident in the next-generation BMW M850i, from its sharp, muscular proportions and its striking body kit to its well-appointed interiors and terrific acceleration.
It can be difficult to redefine a flagship line, but the M850i Convertible does the trick with a revamped design that zeroes in on a lower, more aggressive stance and elongated silhouette, framed by a wider, modified ‘Iconic Glow’ kidney grille and overall sleeker lines. Its unique combination of steel, aluminum, magnesium and carbon fibre author a structural soundness to the car, keeping it light without taking away from its powerful driving experience.
The BMW M850i Convertible boasts an impeccable 4.4-liter BMW M TwinPower Turbo V8 engine, delivering an impressive 523 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque. An eight-speed Steptronic Sport automatic transmission, on the other hand, gives the car its dynamism, allowing the convertible to go from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.8 seconds.
The advanced xDrive all-wheel-drive system ensures optimal traction and stability while the M Adaptive suspension provides users with a perfect balance between sporty handling and cruising comfortability.
Inside the M850i, drivers will also notice an ultra-quiet cruising experience. With the next-gen series, BMW meant to reduce driver fatigue, focusing on making the interiors cozy enough for those longer trips.
Featuring Merino leather upholstery, ventilated cushions, heated seats, a meticulously crafted dashboard and customisable ambient lighting, the M850i can put just about any rider in the mood to go through those daunting trails. Accompanying drivers on the the trips is, of course, BMW’s latest iDrive 7.0 infotainment system, which helps with advanced navigation and includes a high-resolution display and enhanced smartphone integration. The system is quite the companion when it needs to be.
Complementing these are new safety features to provide greater support. BMW ended up adding a suite of advanced driver assistance systems like the Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Lane Departure Warning and Active Blind Spot Detection, as well. The convertible comes with a Parking Assistant Plus with 360-degree camera system, too. This makes maneuvering and parking in tight spaces easier than ever.
Of course, one should note the gorgeous soft-top roof the M850i has, further exemplifying the series’ versatility, imposing style and prominent aesthetic cues. With the ability to open and close in just 15 seconds, the fully customisable function comes with a range of vibrant and new body finishes and luxurious materials. It serves as an exclamation point to a magnificent ride.
