The Ladybird by Blancpain receives a sophisticated purple update

In 1956, Blancpain made horological history with the launch of the Ladybird—the smallest round mechanical watch of its time. This pioneering creation marked a significant moment in watchmaking, offering a refined alternative to the larger movements that featured in women’s timepieces. Its appeal extended beyond size, often distinguished by luxurious touches such as a mother-of-pearl dial, a finely crafted gold case and adorned with diamonds and other precious gemstones.

Nearly seven decades later, Blancpain continues to evolve the Ladybird line with the introduction of the Ladybird Royal Purple.

Part of the Colors collection, this new model features striking royal purple indexes and a matching alligator leather strap. It is also set with more than two carats of diamonds and is available in either an 18-carat red or white gold case.

But what truly makes the Blancpain Ladybird Royal Purple different from Blancpain’s previous iterations is its mother-of-pearl dial called nacre perlée, lending an iridescent and feminine feel to the timepiece.

Adding to its appeal, the timepiece features a moon phase complication and a discreet small seconds display at 6 o’clock—a signature element of the Ladybird series. The dial is further enhanced with Roman numerals in a rich royal purple, framed by two interlocking circles set with a total of 70 diamonds.

Over 2 carats of diamonds also adorn the bezel, crown, lugs and buckle, reinforcing how the Ladybird Colors collection brings together the craftsmanship of fine jewellery with the precision of mechanical watchmaking.

The Blancpain Ladybird Royal Purple is powered by Blancpain’s automatic calibre 1163L, offering a power reserve of over four days. It is priced at CHF 30,500 with a pin buckle or CHF 32,100 with a folding clasp.
