Blancpain goes full gold with its two latest additions to the famed Bathyscape series
Back in June, Blancpain celebrated its Bathyscape collection with a contemporary ceramic reinterpretation. The Bathyscaphe Quantième Complet Phases de Lune incorporated the Maison’s innovative calendar DNA with the Bathyscape’s signature diver aesthetics and functionality, adding another layer to the series’ proud history.
Complementing the release are two more executions of the collection. The Bathyscape Quantième Complet and the Chronographe Flyback have each gone through many variations throughout the years. Each of them have made bold statements in their own right. These most recent versions, likewise, hope to author the same magnetic appeal, thanks to their beautifully crafted 18K red gold.
These gold timepieces underwent a meticulous process in the assembling of their parts. It took a series of finishing processes to ensure the perfect snug fit for the wrist. From the hand-satin-brushed links to the transverse pins, these components grant the timepieces their flexibility and even flair. The patented system also has the screws placed on the back of the links, only accentuating the smooth look and feel of the edges.
Their red gold is carefully contrasted with the iconic blue dial and its subtle gradient. Boasting a sunray finish, its blue dimension adds a certain luminosity to the pieces, further enhanced by natural light. The striking contrast between the dial and the bracelet, combined with the exceptional finishes, give these Bathyscape Quantième Complet and the Chronographe Flyback reiterations such imposing presences.
Measuring 43mm wide and 13.4mm thick, the Bathyscaphe Quantième Complet is equipped with a self-winding 6654.P.4 calibre movement with a 72-hour power reserve, bringing to life the complete calendar and moon phase indication placed at 6 o’clock.
The Bathyscape Chronographe Flyback, on the other hand, boasts a state-of-the-art F385 chronograph movement with a flyback function. This means that the timer can be completely restarted without having to stop the chronograph from running. Of course, both are water-resistant up to 300m, which works for both the casual and more experienced divers.
The Quantième Complet and Chronographe Flyback sell for roughly US$ 58,075 or AU$ 88,200. Visit Blancpain for more information.
