The new Bentley Continental GT Speed is a restyled and electrified icon
When someone thinks of the Bentley Continental GT Speed, they are taken to images of grand tourers zipping their way through Mediterranean coasts or sunset highways. And while much of its styling, design and engine capabilities (it’s a hybrid now, after all) have been revamped, the beloved coupe maintains the same sumptuous recognisable silhouettes, as its fourth-generation model was introduced at the W Residences Singapore.
By the looks of it, Bentley definitely opted for more of a muscular character for the high-performance coupe. Its refined shapes and front headlamps signal a shift for the Marque, most evident in the new horizontal ‘eyebrow.’ The illuminated lower pattern and crystal cut diamond cues also exemplifies this move toward a leaner aesthetic. The handcrafted details, such as the distinctive matrix grille and the option for bespoke paint finishes, on the other hand, ensure that each Continental GT is always a stunner no matter the lighting.
Its latest reiteration also happens to have the first-ever plug-in-hybrid (PHEV) powertrain. This is paired, of course, with the twin-turbo V8 engine with a 140-kW electric motor. And suffice it to say, the supercar can accelerate with ease. Drivers can go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds, with a top speed of 335 km/h and a powertrain that churns out 771 hp.
The hybrid engine and advanced all-wheel drive system also allows for exceptional handling, thanks to the dual-clutch auto transmission, as well as its four-wheel drive. Its reconfigured system controls also focused on lessening excess movements for the driver.
Inside, the coupe four ergonomic seats designed to provide exceptional support during long journeys, plus new air ionisation and new quilting. There’s even an option to go for a new dark chrome finish. It also has an improved luggage capacity that combines opulence with a genuine real-world usability.
The interior benefits from the electrified touches, as well. This means that because of the space freed up, more state-of-the-art-technology has been deployed, including the continued integration of the ‘My Bentley App Studio.’
The infotainment system enjoys a a high-resolution touchscreen display with intuitive navigation and connectivity options, keeping drivers informed and entertained at all times. Features like a bespoke Naim audio system or a Bang & Olufsen 16-speaker system, Active Lane Assists and Traffic Sign Recognition make sure that the Continental GT delivers complete luxury, privacy and comfort even on those long drives.
