Land is scarce in Singapore and, reclamations notwithstanding, that’s not likely to change any time soon. Similarly, the desire to own a piece of the island for generations to come.

Freehold condos come with a higher price tag than leasehold, but depending on whom you ask, they can also represent a surer path to price appreciation.
